Although designed using the same cabinet dimensions as the AE505, the AE509 has significant acoustic performance differences. This 3-way floor-stander features a 25mm silk-coated fabric dome tweeter with AE-design anodised alloy cone drive-units for the bass and mid-range. The triple chamber, bass-reflex cabinet includes a mid-range enclosure which has a damped alignment with a rear port, and the bass drive unit which has its own separate enclosure with a second high powered flared port on the rear baffle. In addition to conventional passive driving, the AE509 can be tri-wired or tri-amped for purist audiophile performance.
The detail, clarity and subtlety of the AE509 coupled with the superb stereo separation and extended bass response expected of a much larger speaker, provide a quality of sound harmoniously balanced for the discerning audiophile.
