The October 2016 issue of Hi-Fi Choice magazine features a review of the new Aego³ which has David Vivian asking “why it costs so little”. You’ll have buy the magazine to read the full review, but here are a few choice quotes…
“Bluetooth streaming from Spotify quickly allays any fears that the little sub-sat system will crash and burn…”
“Immediately attractive is the Aego’s great sense of air and space” (when compared to the £650 Geneva Aerosphere)
How it compares:
“No stranger to the sub-sat philosophy, Bose’s Acoustimass 3 is a good match for the Aego. It isn’t a bad product, looks pretty similar and is nicely made. But it costs £150 more and doesn’t sound anywhere near as musical. Not to labour the point, but I don’t think you’ll find a better sub-sat package at anywhere near the price that does.”
And the conclusion:
“It has the sound, build and style to live up to the Acoustic Energy billing and, for the money, it’s ridiculously easy to recommend.”
Overall Hi-Fi Choice rated the Aego³ 4 1/2 stars (out of 5) and awarded it a “Recommended” badge.
