In 1988 the AE1 was launched. It was originally designed to satisfy the needs of the professional audio sector by offering compact dimensions, great accuracy, precise stereo imaging, dynamics and transparency coupled with high power handling and linearity. The AE1 quickly gained a global reputation with musicians, recording artists and studio engineers.
Subsequently it won the British Hi-Fi Award for Best Speaker in 1991 and 1992. Acclaim for the AE Reference Series, of which it was a part, grew world-wide. The hi-fi sector rapidly became an integral element of Acoustic Energy\’s market and the company has grown to distribute in over 50 markets worldwide in addition to its strong market within the UK.
Our roots are in the professional audio market, so in 2007 a new professional monitor, the AE22 was developed and the original AE1 re-launched to bring AE back to its origins.
Professional Audio is a specialist sector that requires bespoke attention and a high level of user engagement and support, so our professional department has been specifically set up to better serve the pro market and its customers.
Pro Active
Designed to be used on a mixing desk at ear level as a near-field monitor.
The AE22 Active monitor incorporate high quality class A-B power amplifiers totalling 160 Watts for each speaker, including EQ presets to provide adjustment of tonal balance and low frequency bandwidth. A high visibility LED display gives clear indication of all user settings ensuring both speakers are set up identically.
The AE22 is a low distortion, closed box speaker with an exceptional time domain performance (better than 40dB down within 5ms) and good horizontal off-axis consistency. It doesn’t have the flattest anechoic amplitude response you’ll ever see, nor the widest bandwidth, but from 60Hz to 25kHz it is about as musically accurate as moving-coil driver technology can achieve at the price.

The AE22’s are a high power handling, medium sensitivity design which work best with high-powered (75 Watt minimum recommended) solid-state amplifiers.

Pro Sat
Building on the success of the AE22 active and AE22 passive near field monitors.
AE has extended its pro-audio line up with an innovative satellite monitor system. The AE Pro Sub-Sat system distils AE’s 25-years of award-winning loudspeaker engineering into the company’s most accurate and revealing ultra-compact monitor system to date. Fully active, the Pro Sub-Sat system can be configured as 2.0/2.1 channel for stereo mastering or as a 5.1 system for the growing multi-channel market.
The AE ProSat is based on a sealed six-litre cabinet, ideal for smaller studios where a full-size monitor would prove intrusive. Voiced to reproduce its most faithful response when positioned on a monitoring desk or using a near-wall mount, each two-way speaker packs dedicated 50Watt and 25Watt amplifiers. Tracing its heritage back to AE’s original AE1, the ProSat features AE’s signature alloy-cone bass/mid driver and a highly linear ring radiator tweeter.

The matching AE ProSub is a sealed cabinet active sub-bass system, compact enough for easy placement in any studio. Despite being just 350mm per side, the ProSub allies a 200Watt RMS amplifier to twin 250mm aluminium cone bass drivers for potent low frequency reproduction. Mounted in opposing planes and wired in-phase, the twin drivers with long throw magnets are effectively force-cancelling. This reduces cabinet vibration and room-interaction, allowing broad placement tolerance for studios with restricted space. Capable of extension down to 25Hz the ProSub has been designed to offer unsurpassed bass speed and accuracy from a compact enclosure.
