“The AE1 40th Anniversary speakers are not an exercise in nostalgia, nor are they a simple cosmetic reissue. They represent a careful reconstruction, almost a restoration, that preserves everything that made the original AE1s an instant classic: the speed, the energy, and the rhythmic personality, while cleaning up some of their less sophisticated edges with current technology.

It is not, nor does it intend to be, in absolute terms the best compact speaker that Acoustic Energy knows how to build. But it is, without a doubt, the best possible version of a 1987 legend, for those who knew and loved the original.

For those who are simply looking for a compact monitor with genuine personality and energy, this is a very difficult proposition to ignore.”
